Busy, Busy- Another Wonderful Creative Things Fair

Next weekend will be a very busy one.
There are still a couple of places in the  bookmaking workshop on Saturday 26 November ! Come and join me for a lovely day day of making, eating and chatting. Only $160 for the day - everything is included.

Sunday 27 November
The Wonderful Creative Things Fair - returns to St Helier's Cafe at Abbotsford Convent. Drop by to pick up some gifts for christmas. 11am - 4pm.
I have whipped up a few new pieces and many cards for the fair.

Today in my Studio

Studio Day today, and I am working a few things at once -  printed things for the next Wonderful Creative Things Fair- to be held on November 27 at Abbotsford Convent again, also working on my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. My theme is Tree houses so I have been creating tree prints and images.

Here is the beginnings of a drypoint print of a boat, still a fair bit of work to be done on this yet. Something for some of my small collages. 

Printmaking Class

A small but enthusiastic class of 2 enjoyed a lovely day creating prints, eating delicious food and enjoying each other's company yesterday.

The students made several types of block prints, using soft cut printed onto various coloured papers, then a larger editioned print using vinyl lino onto lovely cotton rag paper.

Over Under- Group exhibition

The group I studied with at Box Hill Institute, are having another exhibition - opening on Sunday 23 October at Opendrawer Gallery, Camberwell, Victoria.
It would be lovely to see you at the opening.

Classes update

Bookings for classes is going well with 2 classes - Printmaking and  Advanced Bookmaking now viable. There are still a couple of places left in these so let me know quickly if you are interested. The New Surfaces has had some interest and a date is being negotiated right now. It is likely to go ahead on a Friday in November, so send me an email if you would like to join this class also.
Don't forget if you have a group of friends who would like to do a class I can work out details with you to suit the group. Minimum of 4 people required for this.

Art Workshops with Sally

So you want to do something creative? Here is your opportunity, come and do a class with me. The only problem is that the classes are held in Melbourne- although of course I am willing to teach anywhere- if you fund the airfare! If you are in Europe or the UK I am planning to be over there between April and July next year so let me know if you would like to do a class with me then and we can talk.

  Printmaking 1 day class 9.30 am - 3.30pm This class will explore block printing techniques. Design ideas and image making will be part of this class. Students will learn to make prints both with and without a press. This class could be extended to be a 2 day class if there was enough interest

Book making 
Beginning book making 1 day class 9.30am - 3.30pm

This class is suitable for beginning book makers In this class students will learn to create several types of book including concertina, flag and pamphlet books. Maximum of 6 students per class.

Advanced book making
1 day class 9.30am - 3.30pm
This class further explores book making techniques. A book with a stitched binding will be created in this fun class. Maximum of 6 students per class.

New Surfaces
1 day class 9.30 am - 3.30pm
 This class will explore different techniques for changing the surface of both paper and fabric, including simple printing, simple dyeing techniques, rusting. These fabrics and papers can be used for collage and book making. This class could be extended to be a 2 day class if there was enough interest.
 Maximum of 6 students per class.

Collage
1 day class 9.30 am - 3.30pm
In this class students will learn ways of combining various papers and fabrics to create collage. Starting with cards and progressing onto a larger piece.
 Maximum of 6 students per class.

All Classes held in Sally’s studio in Balwyn. 
 Cost $160 for the day includes materials and lunch

I am happy for you to request a class and we can arrange for a mutually agreeable time, especially if you can find at least 3 willing people to join you. I am available to teach on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The Wonderful Printed Things Fair

I'm busy gearing up for the Fair this saturday at St Heliers St Store + Gallery Abbotsford Convent Abbotsford My lovely friend Jane will be there to sell my printed things as I have another appointment that day. If you wanted some of my work from the Long Socks exhibition I will have them there for a very special price as all work must be under $100. It is a cash only sale so come prepared.
