Buy Handmade this christmas

This Christmas consider where the gifts you buy are coming from.
One way is to  great to support Fair Trade by buying gifts from Tear Australia, and Oxfam

May I also encourage to buy from the makers, this supports the many artisans in the community and you get to give an original and handmade gift.
One way of doing this is to click on the link above and it will take you to the Made it site.
A site for makers of all things beautiful and amazing.

Check out my pieces for sale - see my online store, I will be updating these throughout the month leading up to Christmas.

This Sunday is a Pottery Expo at Federation Square, another way of supporting local artists. My friend Adriana is going to be there selling her beautiful ceramics.

Advanced Bookmaking class

Yesterday 5 budding book makers created 2 books and enjoyed a lovely lunch together.  Double needle Coptic stitch books were made, as well as a small concertina with pamphlet stitched signatures. It was a great day.
See the results of their hard work below.

And of course lunch was part of the package, this time we enjoyed a chicken, lime and chilli  salad, home baked bread and lumberjack cake.  Yum!

The Wonderful Creative Things Fair

Only three days until The Wonderful Creative Things Fair at the Abbotsford Convent. Some really great Artists are participating this time again and there will be a great range of affordable things to  buy- especially with Christmas approaching. Pop down and say hi, I'll be there with cards, collages, prints. Things for boys!! ( cars and boat prints)

Today I'm busy finishing off all the pieces I've started for this, of course there is always just one more idea  that I could pursue!!. Never enough time.

Such a lovely day I will have to be disciplined to stay in the studio and not be distracted by the garden.

Also getting ready for the book making class on Saturday, another lovely workshop day with enthusiastic makers.

Today in my Studio

Studio Day today, and I am working a few things at once -  printed things for the next Wonderful Creative Things Fair- to be held on November 27 at Abbotsford Convent again, also working on my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. My theme is Tree houses so I have been creating tree prints and images.

Cards for "The Wonderful Creative Things Fair"

Here is the beginnings of a drypoint print of a boat, still a fair bit of work to be done on this yet. Something for some of my small collages.

Printmaking Class

A small but enthusiastic class of 2 enjoyed a lovely day creating prints, eating delicious food and enjoying each other's company yesterday.

The students made several types of block prints, using soft cut printed onto various coloured papers, then a larger editioned print using vinyl lino onto lovely cotton rag paper.
