Creative Perspectives exhibition

I have recently completed a small mini series of collages about New York. We travelled there a few years ago and I have been planning to make some work about it ever since. My work is in a group show at Quadrant gallery.
Unfortunately the opening clashes with a wedding I am going to so I won't make it, but I dropped into the gallery today and it looks good, plenty of good work to look at.
check out my Facebook page Sally Darlison-Artist  or Instagram @saladele for more photos

Here's the work hanging in the gallery.

Busy Week

It has been a busy week in the studio this past week. I have been turning out the work fast- nothing like a deadline to speed me up.
In between finishing works of art I have had the work photographed, visited the framer (to part with my life savings in order to have amazing frames put around the work - it certainly makes a difference), picked up the hardcopy invites and now it is back to the studio to complete the final series - Tuscany, and I am done..... I think.

Here's a few details of works- don't want to give away all the images before the show!

Teaching in the Desert

Today I flew up to Roxby Downs in South Australia. It is a copper ( and uranium ) mining town not far from Lake Eyre,  surrounded by red desert. Having driven up this way a couple of time previously it was fabulous to fly in this time, to see the lines of the dunes and dry water courses from the air.

I am up here to run a series of workshops for both adults and children.  We will be dyeing cotton and silk as well as creating print blocks to over print the fabric.  So all is set up ready to go in the morning.

Holiday Activities

Well, here in Australia it is the lazy hazy days of summer, being a teacher I have a lovely long holiday at this time of year. This summer I have done lots of clearing out of stuff and made an attempt to do things I never get time for during the year.
Thus, I have made a quilt with the fabric I bought on a whim sometime ago - loved the colours - you know the drill. Anyway, as I am not really a quilt maker it is a quick quilt in style. Thought I'd share it with you. I started out thinking I would hand stitch it as I love the mediative nature of hand stitching, but true to self I took the faster option of straight machine quilt stitching instead.  Then it was finished and I could move on to the next thing on my list!
